What is an ISP? An ISP (Internet Service Provider) is a company that will provide you with a connection to the internet through their servers. Some provide connection only services, but most will offer an email account(s) and some webspace. There are also companies that will also provide just hosting services.		top
Does it cost a lot of money to run a website? No, it can be very cheap. Your costs will be your ISP hosting this can be free of charge if your ISP gives you a web allowance with your email/internet access.		top
Do I have to have a domain name? No you don't but it will help your website to be more visible to search engines. Home pages provided by your ISP might have an address something like this http://home.btconnect/yourname/index.htm which would make it more difficult for a search engine to find your site. If your provider has homepages with an address like this http://www.yourname.yourisp.co.uk this would be more visible.
How do I put my website on Artistslink? Just fill out the online form with your details and submit the form. If we like your work we aim to have your link live within a week. The only thing that we ask is that you reciprocate, if you can, and put a link on your website to artistslink. How much web space do I need? This will depend on the number of pages and images that you have on your site. Generally you will need at least 5mb of webspace. If you have music files on your site which can be quite large you will need at least 20mb.		top
